Bison breeding generates an important number of calves each year. Some will meet the selection criteria of the farm and will be directed toward the reproduction market. The others will be kept until they reach maturity and will then be sent to the meat market

Bison farming is somewhat fascinating and raises amazement. The type of facilities at the Borealis farm allow this majestic animal to live an optimal life in as natural an environment as possible. The absence of stress is an important factor; the bison remains calm and accessible. Therefore, the observation of this great mammal's behaviour is easier and leads to fascinating discoveries.

In association with the old Ulverton wool Mill, the Borealis farm welcomes group of visitors for a guided tour of their installations. Please refer to the PDF document for details.
In Canada and the United States, bison breeders have formed associations to promote the bison, to encourage and supervise the training, to implement and maintain quality standards as well as help start up new breeding farms. Borealis farm recognizes the importance of the work of these associations, and is a member of the Quebec Bison Association (QBA), the Canadian Bison Association (CBA) and the National Bison Association (NBA). Borealis farm is also a member of the Union des Producteurs Agricole (UPA).
